Bedford Blues put in one of their best performances of the season as they battered London Welsh 64-20 at Goldington Road on Saturday afternoon and you can watch all of the highlights by clicking HERE.

Nine tries were scored by the Blues in this comprehensive victory but more pleasing for the Bedford coaches will have been the fact that it was the closest to a full 80 minute performance that there has been all season.

Greene King IPA Championship rugby returns to Goldington Road this weekend as Bedford Blues get set to face old foes London Welsh on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).

It will have been 30 days since the Blues beat London Scottish in their last Championship outing but there has been little respite with Bedford picking up British & Irish Cup wins over Ulster and Scarlets Select to secure a quarter-final place.

But attention is truly back on the league this weekend and Bedford know that they have a huge challenge ahead of them in the form of Rowland Phillips’ London Welsh.

BLUES FEATURE IN SKY SPORTS DOUBLE-HEADER

For a second time this season, Blues fans will be able to tune into Sky Sports and watch their favourite rugby team in the comfort of their own home as Bedford take part in the first ever Championship double-header on Easter Sunday.

Sky Sports will broadcast two Greene King IPA Championship games back-to-back involving the league's current top four teams.

The Blues will be taking on Yorkshire Carnegie at Headingley on Sunday 27 March, with the game now kicking off at 4pm. To get everyone in the mood for the main event, the cameras will also be at Castle Park as Doncaster Knights take on leaders Bristol at the earlier time of 1.15pm.

CHAMPIONSHIP ACTION RETURNS THIS SATURDAY

Bedford Blues are straight back in action at Goldington Road this Saturday with the return of Championship rugby against last season’s Premiership relegated side, London Welsh (Kick Off 3pm).

Hoping to continue their winning run with five victories on the bounce and fresh off Cup success, Mike Rayer’s men are preparing for another crucial encounter as Rowland Phillips’ Exiles outfit arrive in town.

Currently in fourth with a nine-point cushion over Jersey, Bedford are seeking revenge over Welsh who narrowly edged the Blues at Old Deer Park earlier in the campaign and have since added the scalps of both Yorkshire Carnegie and Doncaster Knights.

BLUES ANNOUNCE HOME BIC QUARTER FINAL DATE

Following Saturday’s fantastic win against Scarlets Select to earn the Blues qualification to the knockout stages and a home draw, the Club can confirm they will play the Quarter Final at Goldington Road on Friday 11 March (Kick Off 19:45).

The draw for who Bedford will face in the Quarter Final will take place next Monday with Doncaster Knights, London Welsh, Jersey and Moseley in the bag.

The Friday night lights date will set up a tantalising rugby weekender with Eddie Jones’ new look England facing Wales at Twickenham on the Saturday which will also be screened at the Club.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS & REPORT V SCARLETS

Bedford Blues have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the British and Irish Cup with a 45-34 win over the Scarlet Select XV but they were made to work very hard for the bonus point victory.

Scores from Josh Buggea, Paul Tupai, Nick Fenton-Wells, Henry Staff, Sam Blanchet and Dean Adamson along with a penalty try secured the win but the Scarlets deserve full credit for their tenacious display which almost cost the Blues dearly.

ACADEMY U19s LOSE TO EAST MIDLANDS U20s

With the pitches at Wellingborough School waterlogged, the Blues Academy U19s game against East Midlands U20s was rearranged at short notice and held on the synthetic pitch at Tresham College, Kettering.  Bedford were down by two tries to one at half time (14pts -7) before eventually losing by 26pts – 24.

ACAD V EM U20 - GAME MOVED TO TRESHAM COLLEGE

Due to the Wellingborough school pitches being waterlogged, the Bedford Academy U19 game against EM U20s on Sunday January 24th will now be played on the synthetic pitch at Tresham College - Kick Off is 1.00 pm.

MATCH PREVIEW V SCARLETS SELECT

Bedford Blues head into their final pool game of the British & Irish Cup knowing that a win in front of their home fans will guarantee a quarter-final place in the competition.

A hard fought 22-17 win over Ulster on a cold night in Belfast has kept the Blues at the top of Pool 2 but a win over Scarlets Select would see Bedford claiming a final eight spot for the first time since 2013.
