ACADEMY TAKE ON RAF

The Blues Academy are in action at home this week when they welcome the RAF U23 XV to Goldington Road. KO 2.30 pm, Saturday September 20th. This is the first of two fixtures against the RAF U23 XV the Blues Academy are playing this season, as the RAF prepare for the Inter-Services tournament later this year.
Bedford make a number of changes for the game. In the pack prop Lewis Brunger makes his Blues debut and Ben Wilkinson starts at hooker. Joe Brock moves to blind side and captains the side. In the back line Dylan Leney starts at scrum half, with Chris Easton moving to fly half, Cameron Gregory-Ring to centre and Ben Meaden to full back. Wingers Will Foster and James Aylott make their Blues debuts.
Blues Academy Director Denis Ormesher said …. “It has been some time since we played the RAF, so they are an unknown quantity for us. The RAF are in the midst of their preparations for the Inter-Services tournament later this year. As an U23 side they will give our much younger side a physical challenge. This type of game is great for developing our players. We learnt some tough lessons against Leicester Tigers last week and we hope we can put these learnings into our game against the RAF.”
