Ex-BLUES ACADEMY PLAYERS IN CAMBRIDGE VARSITY SQUAD

Congratulations to two ex-Blues Academy players named in the Cambridge University squad for the Varsity game to be played at Twickenham on Thursday December 10th.

Ollie Clough (on left) has been selected at outside centre, alongside Welsh International, and British Lion, Jamie Roberts, and Mike Phillips, also a centre, has been selected on the bench.  

Clough, who was captain of Bedford School, played for the Blues Academy in 2010/11 and 2011/2012.  Ollie appeared in two National Under 19 Cup Finals for the Blues, playing in the Academy team that beat Redingensians to win the Cup in 2011, and the team that beat Ivybridge to win the Cup in 2012.  The 2011 squad was captained by this year’s Oxford University captain George Messum.

Phillips, who was vice captain of Bedford Modern School, played for the Blues Academy in 2013/14 and 2014/15.
