HYNES LOOKS AHEAD TO ROTHERHAM

Despite an opening day defeat away to Nottingham last Friday, there will be no wallowing for the Bedford Blues squad who aim to use the result to spur them on in their first home game of the season against Rotherham Titans on Saturday.

The game in Nottingham saw the Blues beaten 19-10 however, forwards coach Martin Hynes says that there are plenty of positives to be drawn from the performance and it has given the players something to work on for the visit of Rotherham and the season ahead.

“I was pleased with some of the efforts and aspects of the information given by the coaches throughout the week that the players took into the game,” said Hynes. “But I was disappointed that the lads didn’t adapt and change when the game did. That’s something we need to work on for the next fixture. We are also working on improving the tempo going into the game. Roth are a very robust side who are full of confidence and we want to be able to match them physically and be able to get our shots off.” 

Undeterred by the Titans reputation for being strong competitors, there won’t be many changes made to the forwards line-up. The team is in high spirits for their game on Saturday and will be giving it everything that they have got to pick up a home victory.

Hynes added: “We are very excited for Saturday. We will try to deliver the best we can and we hope to make the rugby as exciting and entertaining as possible for the fans coming through the gates. We have worked harder than we ever have done and we’re prepared to work as hard as we have to. 

“A win this weekend is everything, especially at home, and the players care so much and want to impress all who have come out to see them.”
