MATCH PREVIEW V CORNISH PIRATES

It’s the sixth and final round of the British & Irish Cup and Bedford Blues know that they will have to continue with their improvement when the Cornish Pirates visit Goldington Road on Saturday afternoon.

Games between the two sides are normally close affairs but when Bedford travelled to Penzance three weeks ago they were on the wrong end of a 65-14 score line. It was an extremely long journey home that weekend, but the Blues have dusted themselves down and are now preparing to put things right on the field.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Blues Team Manager Rob Crowle said: “We’ve faced Cornish Pirates twice this season and both games have been eventful to say the least. The second game resulted in some serious soul searching and I believe that our performances have improved dramatically since.

“ We are desperate to build some momentum now and with Bristol and Moseley to come in the Championship over the Festive period, we want to be in a real positive frame of mind when they come around.”
