Bedford Blues are delighted to announce that four further members of the current squad have put pen-to-paper on new deals to remain at Goldington Road next season.

The quartet of stars are lock Harry Wells, scrum-half Peter White, fly-half Jake Sharp and centre Mike Le Bourgeois.

Speaking to the official Club website this morning about the four re-signings, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said:

“It is extremely pleasing that these four, talented young players have signed on once again for another campaign at Goldington Road.

“All four have flourished throughout the year and I am really looking forward to them, and the rest of the squad, kicking on next season.

“The squad is shaping up really nicely with the re-signings, new signings and the lads coming in from Saracens and Wasps. The Championship season hasn’t even finished yet, but I’m already looking forward to some of the selection headaches that I’m going to have when the new season kicks off.”

Wells joined the Blues at the beginning of 2014/15 season having previously spent last season on loan from Leicester Tigers. The second row star, who was part of the England Junior World Cup winning squad last season, has proven to be a vital asset to Bedford's attack while also being a solid feature in the pack. Standing at 6ft 4ins he offers both sheer size and strength in a scrum along with the ability to ground the ball when needed.

White is a product of the Blues Academy who signed for Bedford at the start of the current campaign. The 23-year-old played for Stourbridge for the previous three seasons while studying at University, before making the move back to Bedford. The scrum half has shown what a talent he is throughout the season with an array of superb ball distribution skills, speed and an eye for spotting gaps in a true scrum half style.

Sharp is one of the elder statesmen of the club despite being just 24 years old. The fly half joined from Saracens initially on dual registration before signing permanently with the Blues in 2009. Standing at 5ft 11ins and weighing in at 90kg, Sharp has been a consistent member of the Bedford squad and played a major role in the club reaching the British and Irish Cup final in 2011 as well as the Championship final in 2013. His control of the game has grown year-in year-out and he possesses a clinical kicking game that sets up numerous try scoring opportunities while also relieving pressure when needed.

Le Bourgeois - who picked up this season’s Player’s Player of the Season Award - became a member of the Bedford Blues squad in 2013 having moved from Jersey where he had come through the Academy. The 24-year-old signed for Jersey in 2011 and became the first Jersey Academy graduate and Jersey born player to sign a professional contract with the club. Comfortable at playing in the centre, fly half, on the wing and at full-back, Le Bourgeois provides both versatility and skill to the Bedford Blues squad.
