SPECIAL KNOCKOUT CUP NIGHT PLANNED THIS FRIDAY

It’s Cup Quarter Final week at Goldington Road as Blues head straight back into home action this Friday against Jersey in the British & Irish Cup knockout fixture (Kick Off 19:45).

Following Saturday’s thrilling comeback win versus Ealing Trailfinders, the Bedford boys return to confident spirits ahead of the Friday night lights match where they again meet the Channel Islanders who have managed to get the better of Mike Rayer’s men twice already this season.

The Blues will be hunting a revenge mission with a semi-final berth at place away at either Yorkshire Carnegie or Moseley the following weekend.

Bedford, having previously progressed to the B&I Cup final in 2011 losing out narrowly to Bristol 17-14, are keen to put together a Cup run of similar stature having already beaten Bristol, along with Ulster A and Scarlets Select in this season’s group stages. However they certainly are not underestimating the challenge Harvey Biljon’s reds possess on this first journey into the knockout stages in their Club’s history.

The players will need a strong home support behind them for this one-off tie with a place in the semi-finals awaiting the winner and the Club are determined to give fans a great night out with lots planned off the field.

Hospitality in the Blues Marquee is full sold out for our special £15 meal deal, but don’t panic you can still dine pre-match in Nos’s Nosh or at one of the catering outlets around the ground. Alternatively take a liquid dinner in one of our bars whilst reading the match day programme.

Just before kick-off Newnham Middle School will perform the SSG Services Guard of Honour, let’s give them a loud cheer as the teams run out on to the pitch. The Bedford Bear will again be up to his usual tricks and with his little helper will be selling Bedford Blues flags for just £1 each to all the fans just before the first whistle.

After the match head to the Blues Marquee for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation, mix with players and enjoy live music from this Friday’s guest musicians. This week we have two lively jazz performers from Auris Music Agency with Tom Ollendorff on the guitar and Dan Smith on the saxophone to really kick start your night out.

Don’t forget to grab yourself a bargain in the big match day Club Shop sale with another winter warmer offer for the cold temperatures as official Blues pullovers are the item of choice this Friday (more details to come).

Gates open at 5pm, arrive early to avoid the queues, tickets are available online with a £2.00 discount at www.theclubshop.co.uk/bedfordblues.
