Blues sign Academy player Chris Lord

Bedford Blues have announced that Blues Academy player Chris Lord has been signed for the Blues senior squad for the 2013/14 season after training with the Blues 1st XV during the summer.  Lord impressed in the Blues training game against Bournemouth scoring three tries, and appeared against Northampton Saints and Saracens in the Blues pre-season friendlies.

19 year old Lord, a winger/full back, joined the Blues Academy a year ago.  A pupil at St.Joseph’s School Ipswich before joining the Blues he played wing for the England U18s Clubs & Schools XV.    

Blues Academy Director Denis Ormesher said …  “Chris has worked hard over the last year and deserves his chance.  We are delighted that another Blues Academy player has made it to the Blues 1st XV squad.”  

 

Mike Rayer, Blues Director of Rugby, added “Chris is a good example that age is no barrier at the Blues if you link talent with hard work.”
