MATCH FOCUS: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS IN SUPPORT OF OUR FORCES

Bedford Blues return home under the Friday night lights this weekend in the Championship Cup against Hartpury (KO 7:45pm).  Save £4 and book tickets online here.

The fixture is the Club's 8th annual Armed Forces and Emergency Services evening with free entry to all serving personnel, simply show your ID at the gate on match day for free ground access.

As the world commemorates the centenary of WW1, the Blues are supporting those who put their lives on the line for the freedom of others and placing thanks to members of the police, fire and ambulance services who aid and assist the public every day in the UK.

Following the long trip down to Penzance and narrow loss to Cornish Pirates on Sunday, Mike Rayer’s troops will be targeting a return to winning ways in front of the Goldington Road faithful to put their cup run on the right track.

The Blues entered the new Championship Cup window in a rich vein of form with four wins on the bounce and having only suffered one home loss so far this season. Despite going down by two points to Pirates, Bedford will head into this week’s fixture full of confidence and looking to reward home supporters.

Hartpury will be back in town to take on the Blues just under three weeks after they were beaten 26-24 here in a dramatic league encounter. Following a last gasp missed penalty that sealed the home win, there is no doubt the West Countrymen will be hunting revenge.

As well as an exciting evening of rugby in prospect, there’s also plenty to see and do off the field! Grab a match programme on arrival as the gates open from 5pm, and head to one of our bars to soak up the pre-match atmosphere.

Our choice would be the upstairs Eagle Bar, with a great selection of real ales; including Bedford’s own Eagle IPA, Greene King IPA or our seasonal option Hobgoblin.

There are still spaces or tables available in the Blues Marquee for just £22 per person (excluding match ticket) for a two-course pre-match meal and entertainment. To book email hollie@bedfordrugby.co.uk.

Alternatively, join us in our new Lifesure Suite for an evening of superb dining and hospitality, combined with the best view in the house. To read more click here and to book email sophie@bedfordrugby.co.uk.

As the teams run out, please give a loud cheer for this week’s Autoglass Guard of Honour from Bedford Modern School, joined by the Bedford Bear.

At half time the Blues have a special cheque presentation to Macmillan Cancer Support following another incredible Ladies Day a few weeks ago. A huge thanks to all our supporters on what was a spectacular event!

As usual after the final whistle, we have two great options for you; either head to the Blues Marquee for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation and get your weekend party started with music from Mark Calder.

If you fancy a bit of post-match reflection, why not head upstairs to the Eagle Bar for the Michael R Peters Final Whistle with live reaction from Blues coaches and players. Remember you can ask the questions yourself and even win a pint of Greene King IPA in the process!

In addition to the above, the Club will be supporting SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Families Association), a charity giving life-long support for our forces and their families, as well as Ticket for Troops. Supporters will be able to visit SSAFA in the Scrum Hall at Goldington Road on Friday night.

With all of the above in mind and to show your support for the town we need a strong 16th man out in force to carry the Blues home. Buy tickets online in advance and save a massive £4.00 on all adult tickets, click here to buy.
