There was an air of Groundhog Day at Goldington Road as Cornish Pirates came a plundering with their Number Eight scoring a hat-trick of tries during a 29-34 win for the visitors.

Almost a year to the day, the Blues and Pirates played out an enthralling 40 all draw down at the Mennaye with Duncan crossing the whitewash three times that afternoon as well.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Blues though as they remain in third place thanks to a late penalty securing a losing bonus point while a Jordan Burns hat-trick and one for Howard Packman sealed the try bonus as well.

Bedford Blues are thrilled to announce that winger Dean Adamson has signed a new deal to remain at Goldington Road for the 2018/19 Championship season.

To say that Dean has been in sparking form this season would be an understatement as the winger, who turned 25 today, has racked up a superb 16 tries in the Championship alone this campaign as well as helping the Blues reach the semi-final of the British & Irish Cup with six tries.

Paul Tupai ‘Toops’ Testimonial Match has been rearranged for Sunday 6th May at Goldington Road (KO 2pm) due to the changed schedule of Bedford Blues fixtures and a clash with Northampton Saints away match with Wasps.   

Tickets already purchased for the Testimonial Match featuring a Bedford Blues All Star XV against Northampton Saints All Star XV will remain valid for the changed date.

The rearranged date allows a Bank Holiday recovery after the Sunday fixture which is hoped to encourage more supporters on the day in a final celebration event in honour of the legend that is Paul Tupai.

It was something of a Jekyll and Hyde performance for Bedford at Hartpury College on Saturday afternoon, but the Blues had enough in the tank to secure a bonus point win thanks to a try deep into stoppage time.

Bedford had safely led 0-19 at the interval, but three second half scores - all converted - for Hartpury had given the home team the lead as the clock turned red. But you can never count the Blues out, and a patient build-up from a scrum led to Howard Packman pinning back his ears to race over and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
