Just two days after Bedford Blues named five players who will be running up the slope at Goldington Road next season, the club are delighted to be able to double that list.

Paul Tupai and Tom Williams have both agreed new contracts while Myles Dorrian returns on a two year deal and he will be joined by Irish lock Mark Flanagan and talented young prop Jack Culverhouse.

The annual Bedford Blues Touch League will be returning to Biddenham Upper School on Wednesday 6th May and we are looking for extra teams in this exciting revamped competition.

Touch rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK with England even sending teams to the Touch World Cup taking place in Australia at the end of April.

The league, which has been running for fifteen years, has seen many different teams take part from local rugby clubs; Bedford Swifts and Bedford Athletic, to Cranfield University and regulars from the village of Carlton with new teams joining every year.

In this huge year of rugby, Bedford Blues are delighted to bring loyal supporters the chance to get their hands on 2015 QBE Rugby World Cup Warm-Up International tickets against both France and Ireland at Twickenham in August and September (application closing date: Monday 20th April).

This fantastic opportunity, only available for Blues season ticket holders and sponsors, allows rugby fanatics the chance to apply and purchase exclusive tickets for England’s matches against fierce rivals France on Saturday 15th August and Ireland on Saturday 5th September as Stuart Lancaster’s men undertake their final preparations ahead of RWC 2015.

Bedford Blues are pleased to announce the first new signing for the 2015/16 Greene King IPA Championship season along with four members of the current squad who have put pen to paper on new deals.

Captain Nick Fenton-Wells, hooker Charlie Clare and wingers Pat Tapley and Dean Adamson will be joined at Goldington Road next season by England Sevens star Sam Blanchet.

Bedford Blues fullback James Pritchard will join England’s Chris Jones and international players from Argentina, Fiji, Namibia and the USA in the Barbarians squad taking on Heriot’s next week to celebrate the Edinburgh club’s 125th anniversary.

Aviva Premiership and Greene King IPA Championship sides Exeter Chiefs, Saracens, Bedford Blues, Cornish Pirates, Jersey and Yorkshire Carnegie are all supporting the iconic invitation side for the Investec Cup match at Goldenacre on April 21 (6pm).

Bedford Blues gave their fans something to really cheer about on Saturday afternoon as they ran in five tries against Moseley in a result that secured the Blues stay in the Greene King IPA Championship. 

A double for Jake Sharp along with one apiece for Nick Fenton-Wells, Camilo Parilli-Ocampo and Pat Tapley helped the Blues to secure the bonus point win with James Pritchard converting three of the scores. 

It was tenth versus eleventh in the league as the Midland club arrived at Goldington Road looking to put some distance between themselves and bottom placed Plymouth Albion who had the daunting task of needing a win over Bristol. 

Bedford Blues know that their destiny is in their own hands when Moseley pay a visit to Goldington Road on Saturday afternoon.

With just three games remaining in the 2014/15 Greene King IPA Championship season, the Blues will be fighting tooth and nail to get the all important win that will ensure their status in the league.

But Mike Rayer’s men are fully aware that Moseley - who currently sit one place behind the Blues in 11th place - travel to Bedford desperately needing a win of their own to put some much needed space between themselves and bottom placed Plymouth Albion.

Bedford Blues will be back on familiar territory this weekend for their penultimate home match of the 2014/15 Greene King IPA Championship season as they prepare to face eleventh placed Moseley on Saturday 11th April at Goldington Road (Kick Off 3pm).

Despite one of Bedford’s best performances this season, Mike Rayer’s men suffered a 38-14 defeat to league leaders Bristol last time out in the league before bouncing back against the Army in the annual Mobbs Memorial Match last week.

A Goldington Road crowd of 1,184 were treated to a spectacular try-fest on Wednesday evening as Bedford Blues fought off an impressive Army side to win the 2015 Mobbs Memorial Match 47-24.

The Blues team featured a lot of unfamiliar faces with players from Saracens, Wasps, Cambridge, Hertford, Bishop Stortford and Loughborough University making their mark on the pitch alongside Bedford first team and Blues Academy members.
