Bedford will be hoping it’s fourth time lucky this weekend as they welcome league leaders London Irish to Goldington Road.
 
The two sides have already met three times this season with the Exiles having come out on top in each occasion so far, but Bedford head into the game hoping to continue the form which hasn’t seen them taste defeat at home in the league since September.
 

The Blues return home this Saturday 9th February in Championship action against league leaders and champions elect London Irish in a top of the table clash (KO 3pm). Book online discounted tickets here.

Bedford currently sit in third place, but 16 points adrift of the rampant Exiles, a victory for the home side could however cut the gap to 11 points and bring pressure on to Declan Kidney’s charges. 

Bedford Blues crashed out of the Championship Cup on Sunday afternoon as they were well beaten by Yorkshire Carnegie at Emerald Headingley.

A first half blitz from the hosts saw them lead 26-0 at the interval and despite second half tries from Ryan Hutler and Pat Tapley, the hosts equalled the scoring to seal a 38-14 win and a place in the final four.

Carnegie got the game off to a near perfect start as they dominated the ball and scored within five minutes. Jacob Umaga sent a kick high in the air which Elijah Nike gathered. He sprinted forward before the ball came out to Richard Mayhew who scored with Umaga adding the extras.

Bedford Blues make the trip up to Yorkshire Carnegie this weekend looking for a semi-final spot in the Championship Cup.

Following what can only be described as one of the most thrilling games of Championship rugby against Coventry last weekend, Bedford have regathered their breath and will be looking for another victory to send them into the final four of the cup.

Bedford Blues are sad to announce that scrum half, coach and former England international Lee Dickson has decided to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign.

Following a glittering career that has included 18 England caps plus Premiership and LV=Cup winners medals, Dickson will be passing on his vast knowledge of the game as he takes up the role of ‘Master in charge of Rugby’ at Barnard Castle School in County Durham - the school that both he and his brother Karl attended.
