‘Friday Night Lights’ continue at Goldington Road this Friday 28th November as Bedford Blues take on Doncaster Knights in Round 5 of the British and Irish Cup.

The Blues faced disappointment when the two sides last met back in October, losing out 36-20 despite an undeniably strong second half performance, as Mike Rayer’s troops set out on a revenge mission and attempt to right the wrongs of last Sunday in front of a strong home crowd. 

Bedford Blues suffered a Championship defeat in west Cornwall as the Pirates ran in nine tries at the Mennaye Field on Sunday write the Bedford Times and Citizen.

Pirates got off to a brilliant start gaining four tries and securing the bonus point inside the first 35 minutes as Bedford Blues struggled to put points on the scoreboard. 

Bedford Blues will be hoping to make it two on the bounce when they head West to face Cornish Pirates in the Greene King IPA Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Games between the two sides are always hotly contested affairs with score lines usually being separated by just a handful of points. Bedford will also be looking to continue the form that saw them overcome Yorkshire Carnegie 15-10 in front of a large Goldington Road crowd under the Friday night lights.

Jim Wigglesworth may be in awe of James Pritchard’s legacy at Bedford Blues but he is intent on making sure the legendary full-back is not a sure-fire starter upon his return to the club.

Pritchard is the Blues’ all-time leading point scorer and at 35 is still going strong for both club and country, as part of Canada’s squad for this year’s autumn internationals.

And though losing their evergreen No.15 is a blow the Blues could do without, one person making the most of his absence is new signing Wigglesworth.

Bedford Blues welcomed Junior Reporters Gregory Hicks and Amie Gray to Goldington Road on Friday night to take in all of the action from the game against Yorkshire Carnegie and then pose some challenging questions to Phil Boulton and Jake Sharp – Enjoy!

As the evening sky fell over Goldington Road on Friday the 14th, the crowds gathered to watch Bedford Blues take on Yorkshire Carnegie. 

An exhilarating first ten minutes unfortunately saw Blues captain Nick Fenton-Wells coming off with injury and being replaced by Josh Buggea. Alarmingly, David Doherty scored his first try of the season for the opposing team, making the score 0-7 after Harry Leonard converted. 

It was a case of Friday night delights for Bedford Blues as they rediscovered winning ways with a 15-10 victory over Yorkshire Carnegie.

Tries from Darryl Veenendaal and Jim Wigglesworth helped the Blues to victory, but a lot of credit has to go to the forwards who gave their backs a great platform on which to work.

It will be 'Friday Night Lights' for Bedford Blues players and fans tomorrow evening when they welcome Yorkshire Carnegie to Goldington Road.
 
The Blues ran in two superb tries against Worcester Warriors last Friday but it wasn't enough to stop the former Premiership side racking up a 42-12 victory at Sixways. Despite the defeat, there was a huge improvement on the field, something that pleased Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer.
 

Bedford Blues return home this Friday 14th November ready to make Goldington Road a fortress as they take on Yorkshire Carnegie in their first home match in four weeks.

The Blues faced disappointment on Friday when they lost out to play-off final favourites Worcester Warriors, but are determined to bounce back from the defeat this weekend against the Headingley Carngie outfit, formally Leeds Carnegie, who are currently sitting one place higher than the Blues but joint on points.

A hat-trick from Mat Gilbert helped Worcester Warriors to a 42-12 victory over Bedford Blues at Sixways on Friday night writes Ryan Lewis of the Bedford Times & Citizen.

Worcester, who have not lost since an opening day defeat to Bristol, took an early control of the game and never really looked in danger of losing to a Bedford side who were resilient in defeat.

The Blues scored two excellent tries through Joe Vandermolen and Dean Adamson but they weren’t enough for a Bedford side who, despite the scoreline, matched their opponents throughout, but were unable to stop a Worcester attacking juggernaut that was relentless in finding points when it hit the right gear.

For the fifth season running Bedford Blues will be offering free entry to Goldington Road to any serving member of the armed forces or the emergency services when Yorkshire Carnegie visit in the Greene King IPA Championship on Friday 14th November.

As the world commemorates the centenary of World War One and at a time when servicemen and women are still involved in conflicts around the globe, the Blues want to offer something to those who put their lives on the line for the freedom of others.

The club also want to say a big thank you to members of the police, fire and ambulance services who aid and assist the public every day in the UK.
