The hoodoo of Headingley continued for Bedford Blues on Sunday afternoon as they went down 38-36 to Yorkshire Carnegie in an entertaining encounter.

To make matters even worse, the Blues were millimetres away from levelling a game they looked well and truly out of with five minutes to go.

Having trailed 38-24, a 75th minute Chris Czekaj try which was converted by Will Hooley set up a grand stand finish before two Carnegie players were carded as Bedford battered the try line. Having finally crossed the whitewash deep in stoppage, Hooley stepped up again only for his effort to cruelly strike the upright and bounce clear giving the hosts the win.

Bedford Blues and Sports in Schools are seeking a new Head of Community to further develop and oversee the success of the community department, whilst delivering high quality sports provision to schools, clubs and organisations.

In 16 months, Blues Community has achieved considerable growth across Bedfordshire and beyond. The goal is to continue working towards sustained support within the community through sports coaching with rugby at the forefront. With over 250 schools across Bedfordshire, there is a wide range of opportunities to build stronger links with educational organisations and other supporting bodies.  

***Bedford have been forced into two late changes for today's game. Ollie Dodge is suffering from sickness so will be replaced in the centre by Rich Lane while Will Hooley suffered a minor hamstring injury and his place on the replacements bench is filled by Chris Czekaj*** 

Bedford Blues turn pink this weekend as they welcome the Ospreys Premiership Select to Goldington Road in Round Two of the British & Irish Cup.

Having kicked off the British & Irish Cup with a bonus point win against Nottingham last weekend, the Blues will be hoping for much more of the same as they face off against the Swansea-based side.

Bedford Blues are pleased to launch their tenth Ladies Day this Saturday 21st October against Ospreys Premiership Select. Goldington Road will turn pink (with a touch of green) in partnership with new chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.  

Still in support of breast cancer, the chosen charity is even closer to the club’s heart this season. Working closely with Macmillan, the Blues have plans in place to mark the landmark occasion in style.
