Have you got Blues merchandise on your Christmas list or know someone who has? Don’t worry Blues fans, we have yet another chance for you to get those last-minute Christmas gifts from our Club Shop.

This Wednesday 13th December and the following Wednesday 20th December, we will be running our annual Christmas Market Stall in Bedford Town Centre.

Supporters can find us next to the bustling market place and next to M&S in the Town Centre for the next two Wednesdays. The gazebo stall will open for sale from 9am, running throughout the day until 4pm with Blues players on hand to help you with your purchase.

BLUES COMMUNITY APPOINT JON PHILLIPS

Bedford Blues are delighted to announce the appointment of former player and current Director of Rugby at Moulton College, Jon Phillips, as the new Head of Community.  

Phillips has a very impressive playing and coaching CV in addition to 10 years’ experience running the delivery at one of the region’s leading rugby education centres.

MATCH REPORT V MUNSTER A

Three was the magic number for Bedford Blues in Cork on Friday night as they ran in three tries against Munster A to pick up their third win out of three in the British & Irish Cup.

Having trailed 14-0 after half an hour, the Blues fought back magnificently in tough conditions with a brace of tries from Dean Adamson and one for Ed Taylor as well as ten points from the boot of Will Hooley to secure a 14-25 win over the current Cup holders.

MATCH PREVIEW V MUNSTER

It is a trip to the unknown for Bedford Blues in Round Three of the British & Irish Cup as they head to Cork to face reigning champions Munster A on Friday evening.

It will be a first competitive meeting between the clubs in this competition and Bedford have named a strong 22 man squad - including new signing Huw Worthington - as they look to continue their good form in the cup.

In the opening two games of the Pool stages, both Munster and Blues have secured convincing wins over Nottingham and Ospreys Select, with only a single point separating the teams as Bedford head the group.

BLUES SIGN WORTHINGTON

Bedford Blues have added to their back row options with the signing of RGC 1404's number 8 Huw Worthington until the end of the season.
 
The 23 year old has been an integral part of the RGC team which currently sits fourth in the Welsh Principality Premiership and had attracted attention from a number of Championship club, but it was Bedford that he chose and he's quickly immersed himself in training ahead of this weekend's British & Irish Cup clash with Munster A.

COLIN BARNES (LIFESURE CHAIRMAN) 1934-2017

It is with great sadness that the Club has been informed that Colin Barnes, Chairman of Lifesure Group, one of Bedford Blues main sponsors and club supporters has passed away suddenly at the age of 83 years-old.

Colin has been a long-time fan of the Blues and his company have been extremely proud sponsors for the past 12 years providing much needed support which has been greatly appreciated by everyone at the club. 

Lifesure Insurance was opened by Colin in May 1971 and he has led the company to huge success in a very competitive insurance broker market.

MATCH REPORT V CORNISH PIRATES

Bedford Blues took on the Cornish Pirates in a barnstormer of a Greene King IPA Championship fixture, but it was the hosts who took the win while the Blues left Penzance with a single bonus point.

Last season, this fixture saw a 40-40 draw and once again it was a truly entertaining encounter but with slightly tighter defences.

An injury to Ben Adams in the warm-up ruled the Australian back rower out of the game so Josh Buggea came in for his first start of the season while Paul Tupai took a place on the bench.

MATCH PREVIEW V CORNISH PIRATES

Bedford Blues will be making the long journey down to Penzance this weekend to take on the Cornish Pirates as the Greene King IPA Championship reaches the halfway point of the season.
 
Last season's fixture at the Mennaye was a truly remarkable one with both sides playing a Barbarians-esq style of running rugby with defence playing second fiddle. End-to-end action saw the game resulting in a 40-40 draw thanks to a last gasp converted try for the departing Myles Dorrian who had worn both jerseys while on English shores.
