Bedford Blues players Will Hooley, Dean Adamson, Chris Czekaj and Oli Curry paid a very special visit to a young fan this week to put a smile on her face and encourage others to support a campaign which could save her life.

Five year old Lulu de Vries is an incredibly happy little girl who is also fighting one of the biggest battles imaginable. In January 2018, just months after starting school, Lulu was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma which has now spread to her bones, bone marrow and lymphatic system.

Bedford Blues Championship winning streak came to an abrupt halt on Saturday afternoon as they went down 29-13 to Jersey Reds in St Peter.

Trailing by just six points at the interval thanks to a Jarad Williams try, the Blues had a huge amount of possession and territory in the opening exchanges of the second half but failed to turn any of them into points. Instead, Jersey turned the ball over and crossed twice more with Ryan Hutler scoring a late consolation.

Bedford Blues take to the skies this weekend as they head across the English Channel to take on Jersey Reds in Round 12 of the Greene King IPA Championship.

Following a hard-fought win over second placed Ealing Trailfinders last weekend, the Blues now face the huge challenge of taking on the Reds in front of their own fans.

With  things tightening up at the top of the table, there's plenty riding on this third versus fourth clash with neither side wanting to lose any ground on the top two teams.

The Followers Quiz Night returns on Friday 15th February to the Scrum Hall at Goldington Road as Jackie Markham hosts Bedford’s own eggheads challenge.  

The Scrum Hall will open its doors for 7pm for a 7:30pm start, so make sure you get there in plenty of time to secure your table and grab a drink before it’s time to put the thinking caps on.

Teams will be made up of up to six people, but don’t panic if you don’t have a full team, come along and teams will be put together of smaller groups or individual supporters. 

Following last week’s Championship Cup Quarter Final draw, the Blues face a trip to Yorkshire Carnegie on Sunday 3rd February at Emerald Headingley Stadium; and need your support!

The Bedford Rugby Followers Association will be running coach travel to the game to ensure the Blues’ 16th man is out in full force in what promises to be a tough challenge against a recently improved and in form Yorkshire side. 

Bedford Blues picked up a huge victory on Saturday afternoon as they overcame Ealing Trailfinders 23-18 at Goldington Road.

Tries from Chris Czekaj and Dean Adamson along with 13 points from the boot of Will Hooley did the damage, but the Blues overall game management and impressive defensive display ensured that they closed the gap on their opposition in the league table.

With 2019 in full-flow, Bedford Blues are all set for their first game of the year as they welcome Ealing Trailfinders to Goldington Road on Saturday afternoon.

It is fourth versus second in the Greene King IPA Championship, with the west London side sitting just five points ahead of the Blues as the halfway point in the season arrives. The Blues meanwhile head into this weekend’s encounter having won their last five league games, the most recent being a 27-11 victory over a very stubborn Richmond side.

Bedford Blues will be aiming to kick 2019 off in the best possible fashion when they host Ealing Trailfinders in a crucial top of the table clash this Saturday 12th December in the Greene King IPA Championship (KO 3pm).

A victory for Mike Rayer’s men could see them draw level on points with high-flying Ealing who currently sit in second place just five points adrift of league leaders London Irish. Save £4 and buy tickets online here.

Yorkshire Carnegie have confirmed that the Championship Cup quarter-final between the two clubs will take place at Emerald Headingley Stadium on Sunday 3rd February with a 3pm kick-off.

Having come through a group containing London Irish, Cornish Pirates and Hartpury, the Blues will be heading up the M1 to face the Leeds based club with a semi-final place on the line.
